What Is Included in a Full Car Detailing?
A full car detailing is always a good investment as it helps you keep your car in excellent condition and make it look brand new. Aside from the better looks of a detailed car, you will enjoy other benefits as well, such as fuel economy due to a cleaner engine, improving safety, enjoying a healthier driving environment, and increasing the vehicle’s resale value. But what goes into a full auto detailing at our company? There is a lot included in this service, and the result will definitely live up to your expectations!
Interior Detailing
Interior car detailing requires the most fine-tuned steps because it can be difficult to eliminate all allergens and dust from hidden spots. After all the loose items are removed and bagged for the owner, it’s time to start the fun!
Vacuuming
A full car interior cleaning starts with a thorough vacuuming of the cabin, rear cargo space, shelf, and trunk. Dirt and debris are removed from the car interior so they do not cause more staining during the next phase. Unlike typical car wash and vacuuming, detailing also includes the use of air compressors to clean hard-to-reach areas.
Upholstery Cleaning
Professional upholstery cleaning tools a.k.a. hot water extraction are used, and the cleaning solutions are all EPA certified. We use special equipment that injects hot water into the upholstery and removes it for effective car seat cleaning, taking care to insist on areas such as car seats and head rests. Once dry, we apply fabric stain protection on the upholstery to protect it from staining and soiling.
For leather upholstery, leather and saddle soap are used for cleaning. Once dry, a leather conditioner can be applied to expand the lifespan of the upholstery.
Cleaning and Polishing Surfaces and Accessories
Mats and carpets are usually the first accessories that are scrubbed insistently to eliminate all stains. After cleaning, they are air-dried separately.
Next, the technician will clean and condition all the hard surfaces of the cabin, such as the dashboard, the wheel, the glove compartment, storage spots, doors, seatbelts, and sideboard. We don’t forget about the levers, pedals, pockets, spaces in between seats, seat handles, and other hidden areas. A very obvious yet neglected area is the car ceiling, which can deposit unpleasant smells and contaminants, so we also clean that thoroughly. We look for stains and spills that require special attention.
Vacuuming again
All the cleaning performed inside the cabin stirs up the remaining dirt, so at the end of the detailing, the cabin is vacuumed again.
Deodorizing
Upon the customer’s request, we can spray perfumes and/or deodorants to improve the cabin smell.
Exterior Detailing
Your car’s exterior is the most exposed to damaging factors such as temperature variations, humidity, rainfall, etc. Cleaning the exterior of the car is just as ample as detailing the cabin, if not even more. Technicians will have to identify and treat issues such as scratches, paint peeling, and flaking.
Prewash with Foam Gun
Technicians use a power spray to apply foam all over exterior areas: body, rims, door jams, and other exterior components. This foam is a specialized car wash solution that resembles a thick white layer. Its role is to soften the dirt present on your car, something which cannot usually be achieved by using average car wash shampoos. Also, foam pre-wash prevents marks and streaks on the car’s surface after drying and decreases the risk of scratching car paintwork.
Hand Wash
While frequent hand washing is not recommended because it can damage the paint, this method is a compulsory part of auto detailing because nothing matches the level of attention and service provided through hand wash.
At this stage, clay rubbing is also employed to eliminate surface pollutants and another residue that detergents can’t remove.
Buff
Buffing is the most intensive car repair you can make to existing paint and delivers the best results after a more labor-intensive and costly respray. Buffing removes a thin layer of paint from the surface of body panels, making scratches and damaged paint disappear. This paint correction method restores the paint’s smooth, fresh appearance. Buffing works when damage is not extensive and there is enough paint to withstand the process.
Polish and Wax
The final step of exterior detailing is applying car sealant to restore the car’s new shine, but not before polishing, which restores the car’s original shine. Moreover, waxing protects the car surface from weather elements, preventing the fading of paint, and preventing water spots that form when water collects on the surface of the paint and evaporates, leaving dirt behind.
Bonus: Glass Cleaning
Car detailing experts use a special glass cleaning agent to make windows impeccable. This is particularly important to your safety, as the smallest obstruction can cause you to miss an obstacle or another vehicle and deal with the possible consequences.
